Big F'n Dave
My wife went to our family doctor last Tuesday. She has hypertension that is controlled by medication, so we were a little surprised when his office called Thursday and his nurse said he wanted Julie to see a cardiologist. She'd been kinda tired and was getting winded rather easily, but we chalked it up to not enough exercise. Went to the heart doc yesterday. Ran through all of the routine questions and did an EKG. It came back slightly abnormal, but doc said it was not likely anything to be concerned with. Nevertheless, you're already here, he said. Let's go ahead an do an echocardiogram (an ultrasound of the heart) to be certain. The heart, he says, is nothing to mess around with. It turns out that Julie's heart is pumping at less than 50 percent right now. He has no idea why. Julie is 40 and a helluva lot fitter than most of us. She doesn't smoke - never has. Her father died of a heart attack, but how many of us have family histories with no heart problems? The doc mentioned "viral infection" several times. Julie had been a little under weather with a sick stomach for the past couple weeks, but our family doc didn't mention any infection. I'm scared to death, guys. Absolutely scared to death. We're going to the hospital this morning. He's going to admit her (ICU, no less) to see if he can find out what's going. I'm trying to put on a brave face, but I've never been this scared of anything in my life. Please pray, meditate, send good vibes/thoughts - whatever ya got. I and JulieB would certainly appreciate them.

PSULions
Most definitely.... Family is the most important thing that we all have. Thanks for sharing a personal thing to your Huddler brethern. We are all here for you and will send prayers up to the big guy upstairs on your behalf. He has a plan for everything and never gives you more than you can handle. Please provide updates on this so we can continue to think of you and Julie as you deal with the unknown here. My Julie is 37 and we have 4 kids, so I feel your concern, as I don't know what I would do without her. Keep strong and know you will get through this. TimC
You got 'em Big Dave. Just be prepared for the heart medicine they put her on to make her sluggish. This junk they got me on now short-term to regulate everything sucks. It makes you a zombie by keeping your blood pressure and heart rate so low. Sure beats another heart attack though. Help her out with the kids and errands as much as possible at home until she's better. Prayers to JulieB.

sundaynfl
Prayers sent!!! My wife went through the same type of thing last year. She is still having tachycardia (racing heart) and the docs don't know what causes it But the best thing about this is that you found out before something serious happened to her; and above all they will check everything out and make sure that it is all in working order. I think that we all would love to have our pulmonary systems checked and your wife gets that "peace of mind" once this is all over... everything will be fine!
