Driving with the first team and made a nice move to avoid a sack....completed the pass, but went down holding his left knee.

He's being carted off the field right now. His knee got buckled straight on...he tried to walk off the field on his own power, but couldn't.

Just about 5 minutes into the second quarter of the SECOND F'n preseason game and he's still in there. I don't understand this.

First sideline report is that they are looking at the ankle and not the knee.

The report says they are "cautiously optimistic".

From KFFL.com hot off the wire

KFFL has learned Chicago Bears QB Rex Grossman (ankle) suffered a broken left ankle per preliminary examinations. While the team has yet to officially confirm the injury, it is believed Grossman could be out possibly three months or longer.

They're saying the new turf at the RCA dome is real slick and not worn in yet.  It's that new Field Turf that looks like grass but feels like plastic. :D

That's the crazy thing--they specifically put in the field turf this year to cut down on injuries caused by the previously rock-hard turf in the Edward Jones Dome.

"it is believed Grossman could be out possibly three months or longer."

...in other news, FF auction values for T. Jones, C. Benson & M. Muhammed took a nose-dive.

Too bad for Rex though, hate to see anybody go thru a serious injury, and it would be nice to see what he could do if he could just stay on the field.

So is it time for the Bears to cut bait with Grossman?

I loved the kid's potential, but ol' Coach Chavez always sez "Ya can't help the club if you're always in the tub."

That's a big hit for the Bears. I don't see Hutchinson being their guy the whole season. Throw the rookie into the fire.

Edit: Maybe Jason White will come out of retirement.
