Scooby
just specualtion on my part, but could indeed be true...we went on vacation with her to Destin last week...I've only known her for a year, but always loved being in her company; she couldn't have kids, I think this really made her sad, she drank a lot, so much that she would get the shakes if she didn't have alcohol, her hubby convinced her to go to rehab, which she was supposed to start today; this morning he found her deceased on the bathroom floor...apparently she had been vomiting all nite, she did not drink yesterday also. Any docs in the house? We're all heartbroken, I hope she didn't die of suicide, an autopsy is underway. Just so tragic....and my sister's best friend, just 39 also, lost her battle with breast cancer, leaving behind a 5 yr old boy...when it rains, it pours ;(
i_am_the_swammi
my sincerest condolences to you and your families, Scoob....heartbreaking. Amazing you were on vacation with her just last week...i hate to say it, but it sounds like something more than just alcohol abstinence. Either way, lets hope she found a better place. My condolences as well Scooby. Alcohol abstinence is extremely dangerous. I have unfortunately seen it effects up close and personal. Once you get to the point where you shake on a daily basis until you drink the DT's can very well be fatal if not medically treated.

MikesVikes
So sorry for your losses. That is very tragic. It's hard to see a friend or relative battle and lose that fight.
Skilly
Sorry Scooby. If it's any consolation, it at least looks like she passed away while trying her best to kick the habit. Went out fighting, if you will. Peace be with her and her family & friends.

jaxfactor
Alcohol abstinence is extremely dangerous. I have unfortunately seen it effects up close and personal. Once you get to the point where you shake on a daily basis until you drink the DT's can very well be fatal if not medically treated. Good info here. Every time Marie went into the hospital for an extended stay, they gave her medication for the withdrawals. They said it CAN kill you. My condolences to you and your sis, Scooby

Bier Meister
as bim mentioned dt's can be fatal. (fwiw, withdrawl from some other substances isn't lethal). sorry for your recent losses. when unanticipated, much harder to accept/cope. my best
